Formal Night on cruise?

I'm going on a Cruise on one of the Holland America Ships. There will be one formal night and it is required for all areas of the ship. I loathe the thought of having to wear a dress or skirt so is there any kind of outfit that I can get away with wearing on the formal night?

a nice pair of slacks and dressy top is acceptable.

Wear a pair of nice black trousers, heels and some sort of sparkly top

My mother hates her legs and doesn't like to wear skirts/dresses and she and my dad go on 2 cruises a year. She usually wears nice black trousers with a sequined jacket or top to the formal night

Formal nights are only "enforced" in the main dining room. You can always go up to the Lido and get basically the same meal. Or call room service for a more limited selection.

The thing is, you don't HAVE to. But you WILL definitely stick out like a sore thumb. You sound like a beautiful girl, wear a dress and look amazing. It will definitely attract some people.

Formal attire is NOT a requirement, it is a suggestion. People on their vacations should have the freedom to dress as they see fit. YOU are paying for this vacation and YOU are the guest. Dress as you wish.
