Why do so many people lie to their children about Santa Claus?
I'd rather be a "grinch" than deny children a sense of reality and trust in others. I remember vividly how stressful it was for me when I was asking skeptical questions about Santa and my mom and other adults kept lying and lying. It's cruel to teach your children that it is normal to tell enormous lies to people you love. The innocence of youth is precious; it should not be toyed with, but respected and protected so that faith and love and trust can take firm root. Next time your "beautiful children" lie to you, count yourself to blame because you are modeling that behavior for them. You are teaching them that powerful people (you are the adult and the parent, after all) manipulate and trick people for no good reason at all; it's just plain fun to make others look and feel stupid for being trusting. This lesson will break and scar their young hearts, and it will quite likely make them disloyal, like you are.
It's even worse when self-proclaiming Christians lie about Santa Claus because lying is a sin.
Proverbs 6:16-19
16 These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
17 A proud look, a LYING tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
19 A false witness that speaketh LIES, and he that soweth discord among brethren
Revelation 21:8
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and ALL LIARS, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

I was raised in a Christian home and my parents were very honest about Santa not existing. We as kids understood that he's just a fun Christmastime story. When we were older, I think they told us how there really was a St. Nicholas who did something or other that I forget. :P They enforced that St. Nicholas wasn't magical, just giving or whatever.
參考: I had good parents.
The Santa Claus lies are benign; why do people lie to their children about god and jesus? The jesus lie is infinitely malevolent:
"He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned." - Jesus Christ, Mark 16:16
Why do you lie about Jesus and God existing?
Don't worry about the splinter in someone else's eye when there is a log in your own
Because it's better to be delusional than face the facts.
Most people aren't aware of what the Bible states about the quality of our worship. Jesus, the founder of Christianity said:
(John 4:24) God is a Spirit, and those worshiping him must worship with spirit and truth.”
In order for our worship to be acceptable to God we must be truthful in this pertaining to worship. Christmas was originally a pagan holiday in worship of the sun god Mithra. It has nothing to do with the true God or with Jesus Christ. Truth to God is very important.
Does Santa promise to torture them eternally if they don't believe in him?
Or will they just not get a couple presents?
參考: Santa Claus was a real person, who did in fact help the poor and perform other good deeds, and a Christian saint who died for the fate in the Muslim wars.
Conservative Christians should respect him, not attack him every Christmas like they do.
