my daughter has fixed metal braces that are shredding her mouth. Wax ineffective. Private 3.5k. Suggestions ?

My daughter has excellent hygiene (orthodontist) but everyday her mouth is bleeding. Agony to speak. Constant mouth ulcers. Still have 12 months to go Private treatment would mean smoother braces but cost 3.5k. As she had teeth removed abandoning treatment would leave mouth with large gaps but struggling to see alternative. Advice welcome

This was actually my mother, who doesn't understand YA! Anyway, I've had the braces for about six months now, and it's really, really sore. Ice hasn't helped because my mouth is literally being cut, scars everywhere.

Go back and show the orthodontist the bleeding and soreness if not ask your own regular dentist about it. She should still be regular contact with her own dentist for general dental needs and he could talk to the orthodontist on your behalf as well.

How long has she had the braces?
What you describe should usually disappear within a week or two of getting braces. If it's been longer than that, ask your ortho for suggestions.

Popsicles and ice! I used to have braces and if they started hurting me, I just ate a popsicle or sucked some ice. Voila, all fixed.;) (You're not supposed to actually eat ice though, so don't chew it, just suck it.;)) The wax never helped any for me.

I'm just a kid, so IDK any 'official' things, sorry.:P
