HI,
I'm taking my gf to Rome on NYE. I want to book a nice restaurant but they all seem to have very expensive (circa 650 Euro!) for the night - the idea is that you go there and see in the New Year in the restaurant. I don't want to do that, I just want dinner before we go out, maybe get there 7-8pm, leave by 10-11pm.
Any ideas? I've tried lots of places but I'm not having much luck!

rome does not cost much to eat, I can recommend a very quaint restaurant in the center of Rome near Campo dei fiori

Roman restaurants are not nearly that expensive. €650? The only justification I can think of for that price would be that it's a very expensive night to eat out, because I've been to Rome and have eaten very well for about €25 per person.

Dude........get serious...........most places get reserved for private parties for NYE.
$650 is outrageous by any standard. Normally you can eat VERY well for less than $30 a head in Rome......often not even that much.........but NYE......places are gonna be packed and most likely by reservation only.
