serve something to somebody. 端送(食物,飲料)給某人

FOR 不能代替 TO

The waiters served a wonderful meal to us.

如果用 for, 意思完全地不同

serve something for somebody

for = 為了

Example 1

Hua Mu Lan (花木蘭) served the military service for her father,

serve (verb) military service = 服兵役

Example 2:

The missionary served a six-year sentence for Jesus in the Middle East two hundred years ago. (The missionary was willing to die for Jesus.)

serve (verb) = 服刑, 坐牢
missionary (noun) = 傳教士

(1)services to somebody=work you have done for someone;serve somebody=serving the guests.(Food/drink)
do somebody a service=do something to help someone;
