Amount for the deposit of $40000 at 8% p.a. simple interest for 10 years= $40000 x (1 + 8% x 10)
Amount for the deposit of $30000 at 9% p.a. simple interest for 10 years
= $30000 x (1 + 9% x 10)
Total amount that he will get after 10 years
= $40000 x (1 + 8% x 10) + $30000 x (1 + 9% x 10)
= $40000 x 1.8 + $30000 x 1.9
= $72000 + $57000
= $129000
