Bug bites
According to David George Gordon, author of The Eat-a-Bug Cookbook, many people in the world ----- himself included ----- find happiness by eating creepy-crawlies. In the following interview, he reveals the bizarre enjoyment he experiences when he eats bugs.
Reporter : What kind of bug food is your favourite?
David : Grilled grasshoppers. They taste delicious and they're full of protein.
Reporter : How much protein do they contain?
David : Well, weight for weight, they contain as much protein as minced beef.
Reporter : How big are the grasshoppers you eat?
David : I prefer the smaller ones, but I cook with larger ones because they're more filling. The wings of the larger grasshoppers can get caught in your throat!
Reporter : How long do you cook the grasshoppers for?
David : About three minutes. If you cook them for too long, they lose their sweetness and get very hard.
Reporter : How often do you eat them?
David : Hmm... I'd say once a month ----- although I eat bugs at least twice a week. I also have a great fondness for ants and scorpions. You can check out the recipes in my book.
Eeewwwww!
