Yes you can.

There are two things you can do to completely move everything across, including a log of all old WhatsApp chats in your old phone and to bring the existing account across to the new phone.

For Android:

Hope you have a MicroSIM in your old phone. If you do, launch WhatsApp and go through Settings (inside WhatsApp)/Chat settings/Backup conversations. WhatsApp will back up ALL your existing chats to your MicroSD.

When finished, insert the MicroSD into the new phone. Now download the latest WhatsApp on the new phone. Since only one account (your existing phone number) is allowed to one device (phone, tablet etc), WhatsApp will take you through to bring your account across to your new phone. Just follow the prompts. It will also ask if you want to copy the old chats from the MicroSD to this lastest WhatsApp version. Just accept all requests and you'll be OK.

For iPhone, paths should be similar although some terms (wordings) might look different. You should be able to work it out.

However, if the O/S is different (Android vs Apple O/S), setting up a new phone with existing account is OK but conversation transfer won't work. I hope both your phones are running the same O/S.

如何更改WhatsApp帳號的電話號碼？

您的WhatsApp舊號碼將被系統刪除。當您成功驗證其新電話號碼後，您的舊帳號資料將被遷移到新號碼的帳號上。請確保您的WhatsApp聯繫人已經將您的新電話號碼保存了於其手機中以確保無誤的電話號碼更改過程。
