1. An airline company operates a route from City A to City B. The current fare of the route for each person is $1200 The company conducted a survey and found that 150 passengers took this route daily, and more passengers would like to take the flight if there was a fare reduction. On average, for each reduction of $50,there would be 10 more passengers per day.

Let X be the reduction of the fare and $y be the corresponding daily income gained by the .company

a) Find the reduction fare and the daily total number of passengers in terms of x
b)If y is a function of x , denoted by f(x), find f(x0

a.New fare = 1200 - x
daily total number of passengers = 120 + (x/5)

b. y = (1200 - x)[120 + (x/5)]

Checking : let x=50 ; x/5 = 10

It meets the requirement :
for each reduction of $50,there would be 10 more passengers per day.
