What kind of homes are featured in these movies?

I'm curious what type of architecture was used in the homes shown in movies such as The Family Stone, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, and Home Alone. I think they'd all be classified as the same type, but I'm mainly talking about the home in The Family Stone.

We call them "Federal" style homes, where I am.
