f(x,y) = xy^(1/2) ==> f(8, 1) = 8.

f_x(x,y) = y^(1/2) ==> f_x(8, 1) = 1.
f_y(x,y) = (1/2)xy^(-1/2) ==> f_y(8, 1) = 4.

So, L(x, y) = f(8, 1) + f_x(8, 1) (x - 8) + f_y(8, 1) (y - 1)
................= 8 + 1(x - 8) + 4(y - 1).

I hope this helps!
