Hi, I would like to know how to use/connect a tablet pc to the internet? Surf-stick, wifi, wlan, hotspots or normal network? Also are there any additional devices I need like the surf-stick, if I want to go mobile online? What do I have to look for when I buy a tablet pc?
Thanks, any advice is very appreciated

802.11

Your list is not of equivalents. Wifi is a protocol (which is specified by 802.11) and a wlan (or wireless local area network) is created using this protocol. A "hotspot" is an open wlan. A "surf stick" is a network device for cellular connections and will only work for most tablets if it has the ability to emit a wifi signal (that is create a mobile hot spot). If by "normal network" you mean wired, I have never seen a tablet with a wired NIC (network interface card).

If you want mobile internet you will need a portable network device that can emit a wifi (802.11) signal from a cellular provider.

I doubt you can plug the Surf-Stick into the tablet, they usually don't have the necessary port. Typically one would connect by WiFi which is normally built into the tablet. You would need something providing the WiFi, typically a wireless router which is then connected to your internet modem.

ebay sells a portable ethernet adapter with mini USB port for tablet pc. Make sure the tablet that you buy also has a mini USB port. After you have connected the adapter to the tablet, turn the tablet on and click "Settings", On the "Wireless & Networks" column, click "More". A screen will pop up showing Airplane mode, Ethernet, VPN, and USB tethering. Click the box for "Use Ethernet", then click "Ethernet configure".
