Find the GCF of each expression. Then factor the expression.?
Help on alg 2 homework!
6x squared minus 9
16m squared plus 8m
2a squared plus 22a plus 60
5x squared plus 25x minus 70
1/3x squared plus 1/3x minus 4
-7x squared plus 7x plus 14
These just need factored:
-t squared minus 3t plus 54
x squared minus 7x minus 60

1) 3(2x squared - 3) THE GREATEST COMMON FACTORS ARE IN FRONT OF PARENTHESIS!
2) 8m(2m 1)
3) 2( A squared 11a 30)
4) 5( x squared 5x 14)

Factor each term into powers of variables and prime numbers.
6x² = 2·3·x²
9 = 3²
GCF = product of the common factors = 3
Factor the GCF out of the original expression
6x² - 9 = 3(2x² - 3)
:::::
16m² = 2⁴·m²
8m = 2³·m
GCF = 2³·m = 8m
16m² + 8m = 8m(2m + 1)
:::::
2a² = 2·a²
22a = 2·11·a
60 = 2²·3·5
GCF = 2
2a² + 22a + 60 = 2(a² + 11a + 30)
Do the others the same way.
