Use a graduated cylinder that can hold up to 100 ml of a gas. Hydrogen gas will be generated by the reaction of magnesium in hydrochloric acid

Mg + 2HCl -> MgCl + H2

Question 1

Assuming HCl is in excess, does that put a constraint on the mass of magnesium that you will use in the experiment? explain your answer without any calculations.

Question 2

Why should you wait a few minutes after the reaction to record the temperature of the gas?

Yes, since the graduated cylinder can only hold 100 ml gas.

Why should you wait a few minutes after the reaction to record the temperature of the gas?

Wait for thermal equilibrium within the gas.

Mg + 2HCl -> MgCl + H2

小心 formula ,沒有 MgCl 的,應該是 MgCl₂
