i use windows 7, and i would really like to protect my files, i share a computer, but i would like to keep some files hidden, the person who i share with i a computer pro, so some form of security? i tried a bat file, but when you scan the layer up, you find the name(a very long one) of the folder, and then you can access it
a program would be fine but need to be safe and free, best that it hides the folder with a password, because that bat file could just be opened with a notepad and change the password

Windows 7 usually encrypts personal files, as in, all files inside the C:\Users\Username directory.

You cannot view them or even open the folders unless you're logged in as that user.
Surely you don't also share your windows account, do you...?

If you want more security, you can get TrueCrypt.
It allows you to create containers. They're basically big encrypted files which you can mount as a drive, just like if you plugged in a flash drive. Put your stuff in there, and if you're done, unmount the container.
The only downside: if you ever forget the password, everything in there is gone. And I mean that literally. There's no way it get it back.
