“stretch for” 完全不是 prepositional phrase, 不是 verbal phrase,
stretch 是 intransitive verb, for 是 preposition, 但是在這裡, 自己獨立 function
prepositional phrase = preposition + noun/ noun phrase, 第一個字一定是 preposition
e.g. for miles, for about 10 minutes,
stretch out 是 verbal phrase, not “stretch for"

He’s doing a 15-year stretch for armed robbery. 因持械搶劫,他現服刑15年的刑期
He’s serving a ten-year stretch for murder. 因謀殺,他現服刑10年的刑期
服刑 = 坐牢

do (or serve) ****-year stretch for (crime罪行)
stretch (noun) = 刑期
xx-year stretch = xx 年的刑期
do or serve 服刑, 是 verb
crime可以是armed robbery (持械搶劫), murder (謀殺) ....

stretch for作為prepostional phrase則是指勉強/能力有限地去做
e.g. The task may be beyond your ability, you may stretch for it.
這工作可能非你能力所及,或許你力有不逮。
