連接詞 (conjunction) 是英語八詞類 (part of speech) 之一種, 是用來連接: 片語 (phrase), 子句 (clause), 或句子的詞類, (noun, pronoun, verb, adjective) 它是一種功能詞, 在句子或句子成分中起連接作用

AND 和,與 (~ 表添加)
She and her boyfriend have already gone.
He looked up and found her staring at him.
Learning becomes more and more difficult.

OR 或,或者 ( ~ 表選擇)
Would you like tea or coffee?
I don’t know whether people will buy it or not.

BUT 但是 (~ 表對比)
I don't know her, but my wife does.

NOR 也不,也沒有 (~ 表否定添加)
Neither he nor she is available for comment.

WHEN 當...的時候, WHILE 當...的時候, BEFORE 在...之前,
AFTER 在...之後, SINCE 自...以後, 自從 UNTIL 直到
(~ 表時間)
It was raining when we arrived
Someone called while you were out.
He has been bored to death since he left university.
I waited until it got dark.

WHERE 在 ...地方, WHEREVER 無論在那裡 (~ 表地點)

BECAUSE, FOR 因為, SINCE, AS (~ 表原因)

IF 如果, 假設, UNLESS 除非 (~ 表條件)

ALTHOUGH, THOUGH 雖然 (~ 表讓步)

WHETHER 是否, IF (~ 表間接疑問)
Did you ask whether they were going?

While 和 When 之分別
While = during the time that you are doing something or something is happening; ~ used to emphasize something is continuing (延續)
He lived in a university hostel while he was a student in Canada.

When = at or during the time that something happens
When I got there, the place is empty.

Firstly, Secondly, Thirdly, Fortunately, Therefore, Besides, Between …..是連副詞 (adverb), 不是連接詞,
兩者完全地不同
Besides 和 Between 並且是前置詞 (preposition)
