Question about wedding dress ribbon colors?

Somewhere I've heard that if a bride wears a black ribbon or a red ribbon, there is a special significance. For example, one young lady we knew had a child by her first husband and wore a red band or ribbon on her dress.

I've tried looking in a couple of places but couldn't find anything certain, so any info would be appreciated.

Folks, you're missing the point. This has nothing to do with the color of the DRESS, only the trim. I'll call her Nancy: she was the mother of a child and wore the red ribbon along the edge of her dress. Someone else had said that this was a symbol of having already having a child. That was the case for this young lady: she had already been married and had at least one child before she married for the second time. Likewise, someone else had said that wearing a black ribbon meant that the bride was already pregnant before she was legally married. So no, I am not overthinking this and apologies to those who thought differently. I'm going to give this question another day or so to (hopefully) receive some other answers--this time, without the venom or spite, please.

Now days , people are not so strict about sticking to Wedding white ; especially if it is not their first marriage. Some match ribbon to their attendants dresses or to match their flowers.
Also to match the cummerbund and Tie of their husband to be !

The bride is just matching the color of her ribbon to the colors of the wedding/bridesmaids.

there is no significance to the color

Those are just the colors they picked for the wedding. Nothing more. Stop trying to find more meaning in things than what is there

EDIT: Why are you getting all uppity about this? Whoever told you that about the black ribbon is an idiot, and whoever said the thing about the red ribbon is an idiot. Seriously. It is very trendy right now for brides to have a ribbon in their wedding color on their dress. That is ALL that it means.

You could be over thinking it but Red normally signifies things like love,lust,passion and even danger, if your friend is particularly into stuff like that having the color red is said to increase enthusiasm in life, gives more energy and higher drive to succeed, give a boost in confidence and help with some fears and anxieties.
