Hong Kong vs Taiwan? Which is better to live and work in?

I'm 18, and wanting to live in Asia when I'm older. I'm from the UK and studying to be an accountant at the moment. My family are from HK and I have rights to live there if I want.

I love HK. For ages my dream was to eventually live there. However I've now discovered other places I'm really interested in - I'm now learning Korean, Japanese and I started Mandarin a few years ago. They're just hobbies for now but I want to make something of it.

Anyway, so I'm wondering if living in Taiwan is possible for me. I'd rather not teach English because I'm studying to be an accountant and it's possible for me to be an accountant in HK but I don't know about Taiwan, I've never visited and want to know the differences between the two? Which would be better to live and work in?

Or what differences can people tell me that will help me start making some decision? Thanks

Hello. In my opinion, you had better emigrate to Hong Kong.
Firstly, Hong Kong has almost the same education system as England. In comparison, working in Taiwan would be rather challenging as you would mostly have to speak putonghua.
Secondly, you said that you were from England, right? You know, Taiwan in TERRIBLY hot!
I went there in Summer, and there was one day, which of the recorded temperature was 39 degree Celsius, while the other days remained AT LEAST 32 degree Celcius.
Thirdly, I have went to Taiwan and eventually, found that the train station was all with Chinese words! Horrible, eh?
But if you want to live in Hong Kong, you had better live on mountains or a house instead of living by the road.
My friend lives in Hong Kong, and she told me that the streets by Mong Kok, Tsim Sha tsui and Causewaybay (sorry, I can't confirm the spelling) are SERIOUSLY polluted.
My friends work as an accountant in Hong Kong (well, she once tried work in Taiwan and China, but it wasn't nice at all as the people there speak putonghua, despite of the fresher air.
Maybe after all, it is really the best choice to emigrate to Hong Kong.

Hong Kong, I'm similar situation to you. First off, you may know, there are loads of different types pf food to choose from. You know the place. The MTR is convenient, and there is a good chance of getting a good job. Tip, get AC. But hey, it's your choice.

You will definitely feel more cultural differences in Taiwan than in Hong Kong. HK also has lot more business and job opportunities especially in the field of accounting.

People tell me that Taiwan is polluted. I think you should just visit Taiwan and get a feel of it before you decide to live there.
