For now, less. I think everything needs to be cut, until the economy and debt get under control.

@the optimist Yes I understand the bridges, and roads, these are necessities. But we are already spending money we don't have, and the debt goes up and up. We need to make sacrifices here, we all need to pitch in for a better long run.

It is not so much the spending as the Democrat management and overhead. Look at the record of federal Democrats since they started interfering in education in the 1960s

We need more gov. spending on the things we need. Like good bridges, and roads. We need a new power grid.
Andrew, the economy is not going to get any better till some one starts spending. Let me ask you this, would you keep driving your car if you know it needed new tires, or would you just keep driving till you crashed?

I'M better off with more government spending - if only they'll send some of it to meeeeeeee!!! lol

WE'RE better off with less government spending; in fact, a lot less would be a good idea about now.

Less, but contrary to Republican views, it defeats your own purpose to tax below spending levels because interest must be paid on the difference. The average taxpayer paid $3,000 toward interest on the national debt each of the last three years, and after the recession ends, interest rates will go up. It will be $7,000 a year per taxpayer once we're paying $1 trillion a year in interest. US News says that will happen relatively soon.

Everyone want a good laugh? See how many conservatives thumbs down this one because it's not stupid conservative. It's completely factual. Republicans, generally speaking, don't accept the reality that it ALWAYS costs more to borrow with interest in the long run than to pay now.

We are better off with less government spending less. I know how to spend my money better than the government. I invested 2,000 dollars in an IRA 20 years ago. It is worth 30,000 dollars. I would be rich if I kept my social security taxes and made my own investments. The government needs to get out of our lives.

Less. We have so much gov't waste that we can easily cut 20% and not miss a beat.

I guess if you're a taker, you want more gov't.

Government spends my money, viz my tax money.
