過去進行式問題

可以話岩，又可以話唔岩
力元所答嘅答案係傳統嘅英文文法
而Ling嘅答案係現代嘅文法

所以，我宜家比兩種用法你，但我唔知人地要邊種啦

1.傳統用法
例：The doorbell rang when I was bathing.
(Shorter action) when (longer action)
2.現代用法
例：I was bathing when the doorbell rang.
(Longer action) when ( shorter action)

or

例：The doorbell rang when I was bathing.
(Shorter action) when (longer action)

P.S其實E種唔係叫過去進行式，唯一有少少成份嘅係was bathing(longer action)
E種句式係was/were句式
真正嘅過去進行式係咁：
The thief was breaking into a house at eight last night.
昨晚八時，這個賊非法闖入一間房屋。

其實現代同傳統差唔多
只係兩個action掉位姐

I was xxx-ing when I yyyed.
I yyyed while I was xxx-ling.

All your sentences are correct in tense . Past continuous tense is used when there were two things happening at the same time.


Question:

When did you fall down from the ladder?

Answer:

I felt down from the ladder when I was decorating my house.

or

When I was decorating my house, I felt down from the ladder


Answer no. 1 is not correct so stick to your original sentences except paying attention to the spelling of decoratiing and add THE before ladder.

註：
(long time)→was/were V-ing
(short time)→過去簡單式
