Sometimes in conversation we find ourselves quoting movies all the time. Some we know well, and some we don't. So we wanted to ask you, what's your favorite quote or quotes? And don't forget to tell us why!

"I stick my neck out for *nobody*!" - Richard Blaine in Casablanca

The reason it's my favorite quote is because in the end he sticks his neck out to get Victor and Ilsa out of Casablanca and is welcomed back to the fight. Showing that even when people are determined to stay neutral and not pick a side, when the cause is just all they need is the right reason and opportunity and they will pick a side and fight for a cause they truly believe in.

The Wizard of Oz >

Dorothy: How can you talk if you haven't got a brain.
Scarecrow: I don't know... but, some people without brains do an awful lot of talking. Don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I suppose you're right.

I love it a) because it is hilarious, and b) because it is so incredibly appropriate in so many situations!

If I have to narrow it down, the first line from Dorothy would be the best.

Social situation and want to change the subject? At work on a problem and feel stuck? Or a procrastinator talking to someone or just to oneself? Can't beat Scarlett O'Hara in Gone with the Wind:

"I can't think about that right now. If I do, I'll go crazy. I'll think about that tomorrow."

Another favorite quote comes from the 1976 film 'Network'. In it, Howard Beale, a TV news anchor, begins a rant that eventually sweeps the nation:

"I'm as mad as hell, and I'm not going to take this anymore!"

I sometimes just mutter it under my breath or even just use the second clause. I would suggest using this quote more with tongue in cheek. And probably with those who are old enough to remember the movie.

Harry Potter: Is this real? Or has this been happening inside my head?

Professor Albus Dumbledore: Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?

- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Part 2)

I love this quote because, for me, it translates specifically into an important comment on the way society generally addresses mental illness. It expresses so eloquently the notion that what someone is feeling or thinking is very real to that person and that individual experiences should be validated and respected.

Three of my favorites that I didn't see here are
"Stupid is, as stupid does" ..Forrest Gump.
[speaking about how he felt unworthy of her] "For only loving you as you deserve, will I become so."
Best Exotic Marigold Hotel
and the poem Invitcus spoken by Morgan Freeman in movie of same name ...I'll only quote the last two lines: "I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul."
The first reminds me that we all do dumb things, and that we need to separate the act from the person.
The second just seems to me so romantic, so clear an expression that love can be transformative, like the line from As Good as It Gets:"You make me want to be a better man." but with more soul.
And the third just aptures some of the best of the human condition.

"Having somebody help you doesn't mean that you failed, it just means that you're not in it alone." - Josh Duhamel as Eric Messer in Life As We Know It.

I think why I like this quote should be pretty self explanatory in my opinion. However, in case some people really do need an explanation it's because I always find myself trying to face EVERYTHING alone. I swear when I'm really in a pickle with something I just think of this quote (even though it's completely fictional) to remind myself.

Rarely quoted, but my all time favorite movie quote, from "A Few Good Men."

Lt. Sam Weinberg: Why do you like them so much?
Lieutenant Commander JoAnne Galloway: Because they stand on a wall, and say 'Nothing is going to hurt you tonight, not on my watch.'

Because I am thankful that I can sleep soundly because of the above.

There is an old movie that used to play on TV back in the 80's entitled "Squirm." As a young woman returns to her backwoods home, a major storm blows down power lines, electrifying the swamp and causing earthworms to go on a vicious rampage. In one scene this young woman spurns the advances of an earthworm farmer while they are out in a boat fishing. He then picks up their cup of earthworms, takes the top off and comes after her in the boat saying, "Now you be the worm face."
I've never forgotten that line, even though my memory of the outcome of the boat scene has long ago jumped ship.

It's not who i am underneath, but its what I do that defines me - The Batman ( memory)- very true, I live by these words

Because you were the best of us. He wanted to prove that even someone as good as you could fall.-The Batman - i dont think people realize how often someone so good ,can fall.

He’s the hero Gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we’ll hunt him because he can take it, because he’s not our hero. He’s a silent guardian, a watchful protector…a dark knight.- James Gordon (memory)- its because I love the movies and i say it everytime i watch the movie.

Why do we fall? So we can learn to pick ourselves back up- Alfred(memory)- I learn from my mistakes.

Mal: We'd be together forever. You promised me.
Cobb: I know. But we can't. And I'm sorry.
Mal: You remember when you asked me to marry you? You said you dreamt that we'd grow old together.
Cobb: But we did. We did. You don't remember?... I miss you more than I can bear, but... we had our time together. And I have to let go... I have to let you go.- Inception - Christopher Nolan is amazing and this is so sad, but everyone has to let go at some point in their life.

You're waiting for a train. A train that'll take you far away. You know where you hope this train will take you- Cobb, Inception(memory) I can relate to this in my life because I have been waiting for "my train" for 6 years now, hoping it would take me where i could only dream of being free.

What is the most resilient parasite? Bacteria? A virus? An intestinal worm? An idea. Resilient... highly contagious. Once an idea has taken hold of the brain it's almost impossible to eradicate. An idea that is fully formed - fully understood - that sticks; right in there somewhere.- Cobb, Inception- i love this one, its pure brilliance and so true.

The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one-day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous.- V for vendetta(memory) its all the v's, and it sounds so well thought out, a masterpiece.

So many more quotes and parts from movies. I am in-love with movies and books, so i could keep on listing more and more. :)

"Laugh and the world laughs with you. Weep and you weep alone." -Oh Dae-su, from the movie Oldboy.

It's originally from the poem Solitude, by Ella Wheeler Wilcox. But I remember it most from the movie Oldboy.
In the beginning of the movie, Oh Dae-su is kidnapped, and locked away in a room for fifteen years. The line is used to show that he tried to keep a positive attitude instead of weeping in solitude so that he may still be connected to the outside world.
While he does seem to go insane during the long period of solitude, he wouldn't have survived if he had completely given up hope.

While that explains the line, it doesn't really say much on why it's my favourite quote. To put it simply, ever since I heard it, it's been one line from a movie I have always remembered.
