why was a question deleted?

there was a very legitimate question asked.. not against policy or anything.. I gave a tasteful answer as did a few others.. but I had it on my watch list.. it was 'deleted' ... anyone know if it could have been deleted by the user?.. I just found it weird, I wanted to know what the asker thought of the answers given so I had it on my watch list.

I've never looked at the possibility of it being deleted by asker so I didn't know if it was possible.. but if it is, I'm guessing that is what happened. It was kind of a sensitive subject question so maybe they just wanted a little advice and then wanted it gone from the site. Thx all :)

I believe due to the nature of the question and that it had plenty of answers and plenty of time left that it was deleted by the asker. You guys were all helpful thx :)

The question may have been reported, the best answer may have been reported, the question went to voting and "no best answer" won the vote, or the asker deleted it.

I've had legitimate questions deleted before as well and I think in my situation, they expired with no answers. But it is possible, and I'm guessing this is what happened, that the asker did delete it. I don't think you can delete a question once it's closed, but I think you can up until it expires.

As Half Crazy says, there are any number of reasons - many not obvious - why questions are legitimately deleted. Maybe the asker deleted it; maybe it was reported; maybe it was something purely procedural, such as getting a "no best answer" at voting.

If you give us specifics on what the question was, it might be possible to identify the reason - with details, deleted questions can often be found in the Google cache.

because it was either reported, or the asker deleted it or the best answer was reported or Y!A staff saw it and deleted it. Your proclamation that it was "not against policy or anything" is meaningless..you didn't tell us what it was.

it could be for almost any reason
from being reported
or the asker deleting the question themselves
