I am looking for an AUX cable for my iPhone/iPod to be connected to my car. However, I have seen some cables with 2 contacts, and some with 3. Which is better? What is the difference?

I tried Google, but nothing hit. Hope to get some answers here. Thanks a lot.

Those are actually 3- and 4-contact, respectively. The metal part closest to the "handle" counts. (That part is called the "sleeve", then you have one or two "rings", then the 'tip".)

For just playing music through the car, the 3-contact version will work. The contacts by the way are ground, right, and left (going from sleeve to tip).

The 4-contact version supports a microphone as well as left and right playback audio.

Three contacts are only used for microphone inputs.. Etc. So if its just audio then get the 2 contact.
