Goodie bags for 1 year old's birthday party?

My daughter is going to be 1 year old in 4 days. I want to give out goodie bags as a thank you to the guests who arrive. There will mostly be adults and a few teenagers. Maybe children also between 6 - 10 years of age (depends on their father) and then of course my one year old. So I'm not sure what to put in the goodie bags. Also wondering what kind of games should be played since there won't be very many children? We also have the cake ordered but not sure if I should bake a small "smash" cake for her. We already know what we are going to have for food (hamburgers and hot dogs, chips, punch, cake and ice cream, also cookies and cream dessert and anything that the guests may bring). Your answers will be greatly appreciated and any tips or other advice. TIA

I would definitely make a "smash" cake for her! That's the best part and those pictures are always the ones that will be the most cherished!

We didn't do goodie bags for either of my son's first birthday but if you are wanting to, which is a really nice gesture, I would probably do something very simple. Depending on how many guest you have $5 gift cards (target, starbucks, walmart, etc...) are something well liked by adults/teenagers. You can easily spend more that $5 if you do bags with little treasures inside so this might save you money. For the children, I would stick to goodie bags. Keep it simple and head to the dollar store. A sheet of stickers, small car for the boys, nail polish for the girls, pencils, etc....)

Games are not necessary. We did do a 'Guess how many" game. Fill a nice container with whatever, be it candy or cookies etc.. and people have to guess how many are in the jar. Whoever comes close keeps the whole jar.

Edit - I think its a thank you for taking the time out of your day and helping us celebrate.

in Nigeria, first birthdays are a big do. its llike ' yeee! we survived the first 12 months! lets party!' so you invite ALL the kids you have ever known who will be accompanied by their parents and friends as well. goodie bags are expected and lots of snacks, drinks and food to eat.

You don't need to hand out goodie bags or organize games.

And while I'm assuming that the invitations have already gone out, so it's too late to change it, a first birthday party is usually just a few guests -- the grandparents and maybe aunts/uncles if there aren't too many.
It should also be very short, maybe an hour. Guests will chat about how fast the year has gone, take pictures, and eat cake.

Any kids who come can amuse themselves for the short affair.

I like short, trimmed nails much more than I like long nails. The actual only time I like seeing lengthy nails is if they're painted, because I think they look disgusting without having. They look like long claws to me.

you can get small containers of play-dough and soft little balls along with fruit snacks and a box of juice and don't forget the hot wheel car. of course if they are too young for hot wheel cars then get a bigger car for them. Now I also had done away with the gift bags and got a bucket with sand toys for them at the dollar store. same price for the sand toys as would have been for the gift bag. you can also choose to give a book in place of the goodie back and if you want to add a box of juice and fruit snacks that would make a nice party gift. you can also get some paint paper (big pieces) and grab some paint. have the kids take off their socks and shoes and paint there feet. have them walk across the paper and then they have an art piece they can take home and their mom's can save their art work. make sure you have a bucket of water close by and some towels. my kids loved this and so did the moms.

I just do NOT understand 'goodie bags' for birthday guests. At a birthday party - the only one who should receive gifts....is the birthday person - NOT the guests. The guests should appreciate all the food and being invited but nothing more.
