If you think that you will have a good average, then, you should not consider community college at all.

Not every university in Canada accept HKDSE result, for specific university admission rate of HKDSE, pls search (University) admissions office.

For example , University of Toronto
Commerce or Management programs are offered at all three University of Toronto Campuses .

Admission Requirements:

Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE)
The completed diploma, including at least 2 elective subjects from Categories A and/or C. Subjects should include prerequisites for intended programs. No transfer credit will be awarded.

Mathematics Module 1 (Calculus and Statistics) or Module 2 (Algebra and Calculus) is required for programs with the Calculus prerequisite.


OR you can go to OUAC 105 website to check up what is your result needed for university that you want to go in Ontario.

TOEFL/ IELTS is normally required for all international students, even you have HKDSE result.

Finally , you can apply to these university directly, just call them and ask if you can apply or not. Finding agents is a way as well , but might cost you some money.

Your friend, sorry to say, makes you waste about 6 months of time for nothing, if you have to go to Canada eventually.

Take Vancouver Community College as an example, no HKDSE result is needed. Basically, what you really need is a passing grade for all subjects and graduation from Secondary school, as well as an acceptable TOEFL score.

Usually, only universities will make conditional offers but not in your case, as your HKDSE result is released too late for an admission offer anyway.

Agent will be always expensive if you know what exactly they will do.

At no time HKDSE can replace TOEFL.

TOEFL is based on where you receive education, not what exam you take.

In other word, even you get full score in SAT, you will still need TOEFL.
