Consider 1000 mL (1 L) of the solution :

Density of the solution = 1.42 g/mL

Mass of the 1000 mL solution = (1000 mL) x (1.42 g/mL) = 1420 g

Mass of HNO3 in the solution = (1420 g) x 70% = 994 g

No. of moles of HNO3 in the solution = (994 g) / (60 g/mol) = 16.6mol

Molar concentration of HNO3 = (27.6 mol) / (1 L) = 16.6 mol/L
