Speeding fine Australia advice?

My partner got pulled over and got a speeding fine in writing, and ended up losing it so they sent out a hard copy, when we received the fine they have out the wrong rego number down for example instead of it being "123 ABC" it says on the fine "123 DBC" does he still have to pay this considering it has his license number on it etc? But the rego number is wrong, should he debate it? As it states on the fine the complete wrong rego number??

Your partner has to pay.You can request a fine replacement with the correct registration.
After all it was the driver who wad speeding, not the car
