如果這個 doll 依然是 ABC City 的標誌，我覺得你寫成 「There was also a doll which is a sign of ABC City」會好一些。

因為 past tense 其實會暗示了「一樣東西以前是這樣，但現在已不再如是」的意思，相反，present tense 會給人「一樣東西以前是這樣，現在也是這樣」的印象。

故此，你在這裏用 past tense ，會給讀者一個「這個 doll 是過去 ABC City 的標誌，而不是現在 ABC City 的標誌」的印象；但用 present tense，就會給讀者一個「這個 doll 現在依然是 ABC City 的標誌」的印象，符合你所想表達的意思。

你可能問，那這裡應該用 there is 嗎？如果那個 doll 今天也在那兒的話。

不。以上這些 「tense 的含意」都不是選擇 tense 時首要的考慮，你應先考慮最基本的定義「這件事發生於現在或過去」，然後才考慮 tense 的含意，去衡量用哪一個 tense。
