Are independent thinkers intelligent?

Being able to come up with ideas alone shows a great intelligence, yet so does grouping different ideas assimilating them with your own and creating one or more. :)
Yet no thoughts are completely independent, they are all influenced by things around you indirectly/ directly and consciously/sub consciously.

yes, I think they are.
Independent thinkers know how to apply their ideas to the real world without depending on other people. Say, a mathematician/ physicist knows how to do practical work independently, using their mathematical skills and apply it to the real world, so I think they are intelligent.
Independent thinkers knows where they are going; they know what's best for themselves, and they can set goals and achieve them. Independent thinkers are often, leaders. they lead other people out of a hazardous/desperate situation.
