1: RULE OF DOG OWNERSHIP: Chocolate is extremely poisonous to dogs.

It is something ALL prospective dog owners should know, dog owners should know and even those who know little about dogs should know, or know already.

In a way, YES, you are "guilty" for your dogs death, you let her ingest the very thing that caused her death, so yes, that's something you did, and it's something your gonna have to learn to acknowledge, learn from and get past.

All too often people second guess common knowledge, ignore it all together or play russian-rolutte with their dogs lives. They give them something possible lethal, the dog doesn't die and they go, "oh", chocolates not poisonous, lemme give em' more, not knowing that it takes a certain amount of chocolate, and type to be lethal and once their dog's dead, they look around dumbfounded, as if they don't know what happen, when what happened is so obvious a blind person could see it, it's called "stupidity".

Yea, you only gave her TWO PIECES, but TWO PIECES was enough to kill her. I hope you learn from your foolish mistake and never do this again with another dog. 2 grams of chocolate or 3 pounds of chocolate, it's lethal to dogs.

Well...it's common knowledge that chocolate is lethal to dogs. But it was four days after she are the chocolate that she died so I can't be certain that the chocolate killed her

There is no way the dog died from that little bit of chocolate. And four days later! No, it was not the chocolate.
When I was a child, our miniature poodle ate a whole chocolate Easter bunny of mine, and the only ill effect was that she wasn't hungry for dinner.
Hey everybody, stop exaggerating!
Chocolate will usually upset a dog's stomach, if it eats a lot. It has to get a very large amount of dark baker's chocolate to have any serious effects, if then.
It wasn't the chocolate.

There's not enough chocolate in ***** Wonka's Chocolate Factory to kill a Lab.

If your dog died, it was from something other than the chocolate. TRUE, chocolate should not be given to dogs. But the only way to know WHAT killed yours would have been to have her necropsied.

Sorry for the loss of your dog, but the ingestion of chocolate and her death was coincidental, not causative.

No, even with 70% dark, a single bar will do nothing in a dog that gigantic. Do call your vet, though and ask the same query: you can think higher about it. And recall, grain alcolhol is toxic to humans but we will definite drink a variety of beer with out demise. Chocolate is simplest mildly toxic to puppies.

A 65lb dog eating 44.53 oz of milk chocolate, 21.14 oz dark chocolate, 19.59 oz semi sweet chocolate, 6.53 oz baking and 3.7 oz cocoa will kill them in less than four days so something else had to be wrong but I'm sure the chocolate pushed him over the edge.

Chocolate is poisonous to dogs. It was a mistake. Don't blame yourself for not knowing. I think if you consider getting another one in the future u should look into What is and isn't safe for dogs to eat. To prevent you from feeling this way

Theobromine in chocolate is what's toxic to dogs. In order for the dog to get a fatal dose, he would have to have eaten at least 50 ozs of chocolate (that guessing your dog is around 50 pounds: 1 oz milk chocolate to one pound of body mass)
Since you gave your dog two small rolls of curled chocolate(usually milk chocolate) there's no way that killed the dog. It could have been a number of things, but without a necropsy, you won't really know.

I agree with another poster, some people need to get their facts straight and stop exaggerating.
