He didnt get it to see if he had HPV, he just got it because he wanted to make sure he didn't have anything that may have gone undetected. i know he got the test done because he was required to bc of his job (he is in the military)
Question about recent discovery of herpes simplex type II?

I just became diagnosed with herpes simplex II. ive had 2 partners, one of which was over 3 years ago and, unfortunately, cheated and gave me HPV, which i discovered about a year and a half ago. I've been with my husband for 2 1/2 years now and when i discovered i had HPV he got an STD screening shortly after and out found he had nothing. My OB said that men can go for a loooong time without having any signs of symptoms of herpes and that he may not have know he had it (i definitely got it from him according to my doctor bc the blood work shows i very recently acquired it. Could his herpes have gone undetected in his STD screening or am i just suffering from wishful thinking? I beg of you, no bashing or hurtful comments. its bad enough having it after having been faithful. i just need some answers..

With herpes some doctors don't like testing unless their patient has a break out, then they can test more accurately for it. If he hasn't had a break out then he can get a blood test done but some times they can be inaccurate. Also there isn't really a test to detect HPV in men until they have a break out.Your doctor is right, men an have herpes or HPV for a long time with out having any signs or symptoms of it. Also herpes (testing for in men and women) and HPV (testing for men) are usually not included in regular std screening.

Yes, there isn't any. Herpes is caused by a virus. Actually, there is little cure for viruses nowadays. The only thing that you can generally do in the case of a viral infection is strengthen the immune system and hope it fights it off. Not with Herpes, the immune system can't win against it. Thus you only get to treat the symptoms. Once you're infected, it stays with you for life. So don't get infected.

I don't know the answer to your question about HSV 2, but I do know that there is no HPV test for men (those strains which do not cause warts). So, your husband very well could have given you HPV.
Are you sure he actually had the screening? Again, there is no HPV test for men and based on what your doctor is saying about your HSV 2, both are raising red flags from my perspective.
