I am so fortunate to have lots of good teachers in my school. But talking about my favourite teacher, I would immediately think of Mr Choi, a young teacher who taught me P.5 Maths, Chinese and General Studies.
Mr Choi is a very competent teacher. He can always explain difficult concepts in an interesting way so that we can understand them better and apply them. For example, while we were learning fractions, Mr Choi said fractions were just like a Deluxe Pizza cut into several equal pieces and he really drew a big pizza on the blackboard. Even now, I could still remember Mr Choi's analogy on fractions, and of course, his drawing.
Besides, he is patient and amiable. Unlike my classmates who are smart, I have to spend more time than them on learning something new. Before taught by Mr Choi, I would keep the questions about the topics puzzling me to myself because my teachers seemed to have little time in answering my questions, not to say explaining them in details. As a result, my concepts were not clear and I did poorly in tests and exams. Yet, it changed when I was taught by Mr Choi.
Mr Choi noticed my poor results and approached me to see what the reasons are behind. When he learned about my problem in learning, he offered to tutor me everyday after school for an hour. I really benefited a lot from his tutoring. Not only did I learn the difficult concepts from his comprehensive explanations, but also a positive attitude towards life from his generous personality. And under his guidance, my results improved a lot and I even got the Best Improvement Award that year.
I am really thankful to Mr Choi, who seems like a big brother to me. Even though he no longer teaches me now, I would still chat with him on Facebook. That is one of the activities I enjoy most.
