Assuming that Yahoo's correct and you're from America; realistically, you can't. Visas are almost impossible to get if you're from outside the EU.

The only way of getting a work visa is to successfully apply for a job on the UK Border Agency shortage list,m, which you can find on their website. The company will then sponsor you for a work visa.

The job will obviously dictate where you live, so I'd suggest you look for that first.

I think some people have answered this question well, but I would *** that the North does have friendlier people - but the weather can be many degrees cooler.

Liverpool and Manchester are fantastic cities, with good transportation systems. London is expensive but has more jobs.
