Hi, I am going to be a senior and I am getting worried about college applications.
In my freshman year, I got a 3.7 GPA. (Woodshop, English honors, Biology honors, Geometry, Spanish, P.E.)
In my sophomore year, I got a 3.5 GPA. (Chem Honors, English Honors, P.E., Spanish, Algebra 2, world history)
Finally, in my junior year, I got a 3.83 GPA.(Piano, Trigonometry/Pre-Cal, Journalism, AP US History, AP Lang, and AP Chem).
I only took the SAT once and I got a 1680. I am currently going to SAT prep and I'm pretty confident that I could hit an 1800. I got a 690 on the SAT II (subject test) for United States history. I also got a 700 on World history.
My extra curriculars are as follows:
I have been in MESA (Math Engineering Science Achivement) for 4 years, FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) for 2 years, Newspaper for 2 years (Sports editor and Cartoonist). At the regional and state newspaper competitions, I received 2nd and 1st place, respectively. I was in basketball for 3 years (going to be 4). I played 1 year of freshman basketball, 1 year of JV, and 1 year of varsity (about to be 2 years).
My dream schools are Occidental College, UC Santa Barbara, and UC Irvine. I'm also thinking about Boston University and NYU, but I know that money would be an issue since I'm out of state. Do I have a solid chance of getting into these schools? If not, is there anything I need to do to increase my chances of getting into them? I will be taking the SAT test 1 more time and I'm positive that I can hit a 1700-1800.
Thanks, best answer gets max points.
