The acceleration of the system a is,F = (m1 +m2).a
The acceleration is thus the same for both cases.
In fig(a): R1 = (m1)a
In fig(b): R2 = (m2)a
Because m2 > m1, R2 > R1
Statement (1) is wrong.
Dividing, R1/R2 = m1/m2
thus, R1/m1 = R2/m2
i.e. statement (2) is wrong.
Adding, R1 + R2 = (m1 + m2)a = F
Statement (3) is right.
The answer is option C
