If there were ever a time to not discriminate and be with someone for who they are, this would be it. This girl I really really like has genital herpes and we shared a drink? Can I get it? Also will I get it if we have sex if she isn't having an outbreak? And can I get it if we have oral sex if she isn't having an outbreak???

Yes, there isn't any. Herpes is caused by a virus. Actually, there is little cure for viruses nowadays. The only thing that you can generally do in the case of a viral infection is strengthen the immune system and hope it fights it off. Not with Herpes, the immune system can't win against it. Thus you only get to treat the symptoms. Once you're infected, it stays with you for life. So don't get infected.

Personal experience. I have had genital herpes for over 5 years.

NO you're not going to get genital herpes from sharing drinks, it's also not common to have genital herpes on the mouth.
Even if she did have herpes on the mouth there is a very small chance of contracting it that way. She would have to have a visible break out, you would have to take a sip directly after her.
Herpes on the mouth is more likely to be passed by kissing while there are any visible signs of blisters or sores on the mouth. If she doesn't have herpes on her mouth then it's safe to share drinks and kiss her.
There is a small chance of you contracting herpes while she is in between break outs. How ever your chances of contracting it can be further reduced if she is taking antiviral medication or suppressants regularly. Avoid having intercourse around the time she has any signs or symptoms of a break out.

If she has a herpes infection in her mouth (either herpes 1 or 2) she can pass it on, especially during an outbreak. As for having sex, use a condom. She can still be contagious while not having an outbreak. You're much less likely to get it while she's not having an outbreak, but be safe.

You can't get genital herpes from sharing drinks. It is possible to get herpes type 2 orally, but it's pretty unlikely outside of an outbreak. You can get it genitally, but it's much less likely if there is no outbreak.
