how does vet billing work?

if i need to take my cat to a new vet, and i won't have the money until the following week, how does the billing work? do i need to pay on the spot, or can i have a bill sent to me?

Just about all vets have a policy where payment is due on the day of service, for a new client especially. Vets have learned the hard way that they are quick to get 'stiffed'. Many vets now - the first time you are seen - review their payment policy with you and have you sign it.

You need to pay at the time of service (at least in the US). We have a program called CareCredit which is no interest for 6 months. You can apply at your vet or online. Not sure if it's available in Canada, but they may have something similar.
