Should I wear my glasses the whole day, or should I wear them only when I need it?

I got glasses with something like 0.25 and 0.50, many of my friends have told me that I shouldn't have gotten it because of the low numbers, but I need it in class for I have a hard time figuring out what is written in the board.

Should I wear them the whole day or should I wear them only when I need it. I could still see far away (I would know what the object far from me are), but I need it when I need to read to read something far.

Would wearing them the whole day improve my vision? Sometimes when I try to read something far away, my eyes would become hot, and whenever I wear my glasses, the part of my nose where the glasses sit become really oily.

You've just asked the right person!
I've been a licensed optician for 7 years.
Wearing them the whole day will NOT improve your vision, they will just help you see better.
You might have heard people saying if you wear them for too long, your eyes actually get worse.
the reason is that your eyes get used to the lenses in front of them if you wear them for long period, when you take them off, they will feel something is missing.

Most doctors or optician will probably tell you it's not necessary for you to get glasses with a -0.25 or -0.50 (minus sign is myopia or near-sightedness)
but if you really need them, put them on! but you don't necessary need them.

if your eyes are burning, you probably have dry eyes, don't stare at computer screen or focusing on something for too long, remind yourself to blink more often, you can try Systane eye drops if needed.

Wear them when you want
Wearing or not wearing your glasses will not improve your vision or make it worse. It will only correct your vision while you are wearing them.
Very low powers. You should not be having problems with distance vision.

CONSTANT WEAR WILL BE BETTER IF YOU WANT TO IMPROVE YOUR VISION

Wearing or not wearing your glasses will not have any permanent effect on your vision. Wear them if you want to see things in the distance.

At some point, you'll decide to keep them on all the time rather than bothering to take them on and off.

Hi. Now that we've gotten introductions out of the way, I've had prescription glasses since I was about three. I usually wear them for the whole day, even in the shower, and take them off when I go to sleep at night or when I put on my goggles (also prescription) to go swimming. Wearing your glasses for the whole day doesn't necessarily improve your vision. It just helps you see things better.

And don't worry about the nose pads. That's happened to me before. I don't really know how to clean them, but I'm sure there are products that can remove the gunk.

Long story short, I'd wear them for the whole day. It will help you see as well as serve as eye protection to a certain degree.

I have a similar prescription and wear my glasses all of the time. they help with seeing faces at a distance, reading menu boards, driving, and my eyes feel more relaxed. I don't have to wear my glasses to legally drive but they do help, especially at night. Like you, I could get by without them and do take them off to read and for other close work. Good luck with what you decide.

I have a very light prescription as well. I find that my eyesight has gotten "worse" by wearing my glasses all the time, but I think this is just because I'm used to seeing everything clearly now so now my bad vision is more noticeable.

If I were you, I'd just wear them when you're not at home. Mostly just at school or to restaurants (places like McDonalds with their menus high up behind the counter can be hard to read after you have gotten used to wearing your glasses).

I also take them off for doing things like tests. They tend to make it more difficult to concentrate.
