I am planning to work next year as a full time high school teacher.
From what I have heard, the salary for a graduate teacher in Queesland is around $ 58000.
I am just wondering, how do I pay the tax, and how much is the net income after tax is deducted usually?

In addition, how and when do I pay back my study loan from tertiary studies? Thank you so much.

Your employer should withhold tax for your salary. If you inform them that you have a HECS/HELP dent, they will withhold enough money to cover your student debt repayment.

When you lodge your tax return, your tax, medicare and HELP/HECS debt are included in the calculation of any refund or shortfall. Your HECS/HELP is repaid via the taxation system, although you can make voluntary payments if you want to.

You should expect that about 26% of your salary will be withheld, so your fortnightly pay packet will be around $1685. This will cover your HELP debt, assuming you have no other form of income.
