English question, please help?

He told me he likes him.
He told me he liked him.

Which one is correct? If they are both correct, which one is more common?

Both are correct, however the first one sounds better and is more common

Both
"He told me he liked him" is past tense, ie he USED to like him, implying he doesn't anymore
But both are correct :)

he likes him= likes him even today
he liked him= once, not any more

If you are talking in past tense then use liked
