Given an equation ax - 6 = 0 , where a is a constant. If the root of the equation is 3, find the value of a - 3.

therefore a - 3 = -1

Substitute the root x=3 in the equation ax-6=0:
a(3)-6=0
3a-6=0
3a=6
a=2
Therefore:
a-3
=2-3
=-1
a(3)-6=0
3a-6=0
3a=6
a=2
Therefore:
a-3
=2-3
=-1
