Variation

When a remains unchanged, c varies inversely as the square of b :
c ∝ 1/b² ...... [1]

When b remains unchanged, cvaries directly as the square root of a :
c ∝ √a ......[2]

By [1] and [2] :
c ∝ (√a)/b²
Hence, c = k(√a)/b²
where k is a constant.

When a = 36 and b = 2, c = 1 :
1 = k(√36)/2²
6k/4 = 1
k = 2/3

Hence, c = 2(√a)/(3b²)
or 3b²c = 2√a
