Joseph Lee and Ronald Yu became close friends in Form 1 since they had one
common interest in life - pets.At that time,Joseph kept one cat and threes dog at.
Ronald’s home was more like zoo than a house - he had more than 30 pets.
‘We lived on a farm in Fanling,’said Ronald.‘My parents loved animals very much and we had a house full of them.There were birds,turtles,rabbits,dogs and cats.’
The boys formed a pet club at school soon after they got to Form 4.They taught
club members how to choose and look after thier pets.They even persuaded the
principal to permit them to keep a few pets in the school.
When they left school,the boys decided to run a pet shop.They found that this
was not an easy task at all.‘Rents were very expensive indeed. The problem
was that we needed a large area to keep the pets.As you know,they also need to exercise.Finally we decided to house them in Ronald’s farm and open our shop
in Shatin,’Joseph said.
The boys really loved thier animals.They were always careful about who bought
their pets.‘Sometimes we find that some of our customers buy the animals just
for fun.They have not thought about how they are going to look after them,’said
Ronald.
‘We really hope that our customers will also be responsible owners,’his partner
added.
