I don't understand why (1) & (2)⟹x=±y…(6)??And how distance=√(4+4+0)=√8 is equal to 2 ?? Would you mind to explain it?

Let f(x)=x^2+y^2+z^2+k(z^2-xy-4)
f_x=2x-ky=0…(1)
f_y=2y-kx=0…(2)
f_z=2z+2kz=0…(3)
f_k=z^2-xy-4=0…(4)
(3)⟹z=0 or k=-1
If z=0 then (4)⟹xy=-4…(5)
(1) & (2)⟹x=±y…(6)
(5) & (6)⟹(x,y)=(2,-2) or (-2,2)
Distance=√(4+4+0)=√8
If k=-1;(1) & (2)⟹(x,y)=0⟹z=±2
Distance=2
