Which university has a better reputation on this course?

I want to study English Language and Linguistics. I am divided between Lancaster and Sheffield university. They are both very good but the only main difference is the cities. Lancaster is a bit isolated, more campus based whereas Sheffield is more "active" as it has more places to go, more events and people hardly get bored. I am an introvert person and I don't mind living in a small city but I don't know how much I could stand it, not being able to go somewhere shopping in my free time or just circulate around the city and see people. On the other hand, I wouldn't be able to be surrounded by a lot of activity or noise either, I like to have a quiet time but still be able to enjoy walks around the city that has plenty of things to offer.
In terms of my course, which one is best at it?
