麥當勞叔叔之家？是個什麼地方？
原來「麥當勞叔叔之家」是一個讓患病的小朋友和他們的家人暫時居住的地方.
1.2起源
他之所以成立係因為在70年代，美國足球隊隊員 曉列治的女兒甘美(Kim)不幸地被診斷患上血癌，需送往費城兒童醫院接受為期三年的治療。
他們為了方便照顧和陪伴甘美，無奈地要以醫院為家，三餐膳食不但要光顧醫院內的飯堂，累了更要在甘美病床旁邊的沙發休息。
心力交瘁下, 曉列治決定聯同隊友著手籌辦麥當勞叔叔之家，最終在麥當勞的協助下，於1974年正式成立一間麥當勞叔叔之家。
它之所以以麥當勞叔叔的名字命名，除了因為麥當勞的慷慨資助外，亦希望藉著麥當勞叔叔樂觀，積極和開朗的形象，鼓勵病童勇敢與病魔搏鬥。
1.3在香港的服務
麥當勞叔叔之家面積為約二千平方米，設備完善，房間有空調及浴室，可容納四人入住；另外還有一應俱全的廚房、洗衣房、閱讀室、遊戲間和花園，有足夠的空間提供入住的家庭活動、娛樂及休憩之用。凡十八歲以下需要住院的病童家庭均可申請入住，經醫護人員填妥轉介表，一經批准，便可入住。
