No, I never had this problem. I always regard languages (and dialects for that matter) as communication tools. As a visitor, I would respect, and conform to the language of the host country. Where the people in a host country could speak my language, that would be appreciated, but not expected.
You are already lucky that you could speak English, which is the native language of quite many countries, and which is studied as a second language in many non-English speaking countries. You can communicate with so many people by using only one language.
However, you seem to be bothered by the fact that people speaking English with various accents do not conform to your Canadian accent, and you are not talking about when you are in Canada, but when you are in a different country. Don't you think that is a little unreasonable ?
Even in Canada, if you are in the big cities you would find people speaking English in countless number of accents. The more you can adapt to them, the more flexible you would become, in communicating with others.
So, relax, be more open-minded, and enjoy your communication with people. Wherever you may be, adapt yourself to the local norm rather than expecting the other way around, you would find yourself a much happier person.
