so i installed vmware before and then my computer crashed with some virtual machines installed, so then i restored my computer to factory image, but then there is some memory still being used, i can see it becuase my hard disk space is 750 and the total free space added up shown in window 7 is 50GB less, not including the factory image(taken in account already), so... any idea on how to free up that lot of memory?

Use disk management to format the drive. Right click on my computer and click on manage or type dskmgmnt in run. I suggest you format it to NTFS because you can compress the files and save more disk space.

It's a standard deviation that comes from having NTFS file system. With basic formatting you get just a little over 93% of physical capacity (which in your case brings a loss of about 50 GB). The only way to limit the loss is to use advanced formatting but you'd need an HDD that supports it (like the new Western Digital drives) and a couple other software modifications.
