What is the best smartphone to buy RIGHT NOW?

I lost my phone and my contract is up.
What is the best smartphone to buy right now? It doesnt matter what network its on.
I dont want to get the S3 right before the S4 comes out. I'm not crazy about the S4 either though..
The HTC One isnt out yet..

What should I get today?

I dont want anything that is going to be outdated soon. Is a new galaxy note coming out? A new IPhone? A new Nexus?

I dont mind paying $300 or so.. But the Xperia Z hasnt been announced for any carriers yet. So i would have to pay $800+ If it wasnt for that, I would get it

Well unless you are going for the HTC One its a bad time. The next iPhone is expected as early as June & the Nexus 5 could be announced in May.
The Galaxy Note is unnecessarily big & maybe replaced by the Samsung Galaxy Mega line.

I'm not here to spoil the party but this is a very subjective question. The answers of the people here will make you more confused, I believe.

The best way for you to find out which phone perfectly fits you is to read reviews on trusted gadget magazines or online sites like Engadget, The Verge, CNET, etc or maybe watch a video review or two on YouTube. Every phone is different and has different purposes.

But just on a personal note, Windows Phone is something fresh and unique (Nokia Lumia 920).

Xperia Z! It is water-proof, with 13 mega pixel camera, quad core and pretty much the fastest phone at this moment!!

iphone is just a waste of money. if you don't want the s3 or the s4 i suggest you go for the sony xperia z. its waterproof and dustproof. what else do you need??
